A horse is broken when it is instantly obedient to the rider on its back. God is trying to break us, the way a cowboy saddle breaks a horse. In this passage we continue to look at God breaking Jacob, Rachel and Leah. The problem is this family is filled with jealousy, and jealousy sabotages the breaking process.
Broken people. Broken families. Broken relationships. Broken lives. As we continue through Genesis we discover that God works through broken families, broken families, broken relationships and broken lives. In fact, that's His speciality.
As we finish the book of Genesis, we look back, and we look forward. We discover God was at work in the dark pits, just like he was at work in the victories. All of it was used by God. We learn to be thankful to God through it all. Ultimately, to give thanks to God for a broken heart.
