Fast: Hot Food.
Prayer Focus: Lost Family Members.
There is nothing I can think of that reaches the depth of my emotions more than praying for loved ones in my family who do not know God through His Son, Jesus. When we call something “the cry of my heart”, well, that’s what this subject is to me. Perhaps you can relate. Maybe you have the perspective of being on the other side… a Christian family member prayed for you, and God answered their prayers. You are now a child of God as a result. Praise God!
If you have been the one praying for a lost child, sibling, parent or other family member… I want to encourage you to KEEP PRAYING! Read the first 8 verses of Luke chapter 18:
1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
Jesus told His disciples a story to show them that they should always pray and not give up. As we fast lets get ahold of this wonderful perspective from our Lord Jesus.
NOTE: During the month of September 2018, we are holding a “Month of Fasting and Prayer.” Each day we are asking various members of our leadership team to share a few thoughts on that day’s prayer focus. This is one such devotional.
